School Events - Year 5 visit Birmingham Council House

November 2009

As part of Year 5s work on Democracy they visited Birmingham Council House.

They had a guided tour of the building which included the Lord Mayor's parlour where they were able to sit at the Lord Mayor's desk and see signatures of famous visitors who have visited there.

Later they took part in a mock debate in the Council Chamber, about whether the school week should include attending school on Saturday. Surprisingly, the majority decision was a no, school should not be extended to include Saturdays.
