Biathlon Success

22 November 2009

On Sunday 22nd November 2009, eight pupils from years five and six took part in a biathlon at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull.

It was a cold and wet day which started with a 500 metre run followed by a much warmer but not drier swim of 50 metres. The Year Six boys’ team consisted of Patrick M who came 2nd overall; Daniel L who finished 5th and George H who came in just behind Daniel in 6th position.

The Year Five team were also fantastic with Jack C, Jack W and Edward C all coming in the top ten. Lydia B and Elizabeth G came 9th and 10th respectively and were very proud of their positions.

A healthy collection of trophies made their way back to Sutton Coldfield. Before Christmas these athletes received the recognition that they deserved at a School Presentation Assembly.

Operation Shoebox

Operation Shoebox

November 2009

Two of our pupils had the idea to involve the school in operation Shoebox. 119 boxes were donated in total and delivered to the collection point at Acres in Mere Green.

Today's Curriculum asks schools to ensure that the children are aware of how they can make a positive contribution to not only to their school but also the wider community.

This overwhelming donation to the assist the troops only goes to show that the pupils and families have a strong voice and highly value support to this cause.

Year 6 Stand Up for Our Rights!

14 March 2007

Year 6 visited the Council House in Birmingham to contribute to a debate. As part of Citizenship, Year 6 have been selected to participate with other schools in this opportunity.

In preparation we have discussed the motion allocated in class and decided upon many reasons for and against this suggestion. Hopefully some of our children will get the chance to speak out loud and share our viewpoints!
