Foundation
Welcome to Foundation Year.
We aim to provide a stimulating and rich curriculum where each child can flourish in a caring environment which promotes effective learning and development. This curriculum is based on six key areas:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Many of the activities which the children undertake are initiated by them - often making use of areas like our home corner and writing area - while they are also regularly involved in whole class, group and individual tasks.

We have been learning about Baptism in RE and conducted our own Baptism complete with Priest, baby, God parents, etc.
We were visited by Hoot. We watched the owl fly across the playground and we even got to stroke it.
Foundation Year told the rest of the school how we help others and who in our community helps us too. They all dressed up in their own costumes as nurses, firemen, policemen, builders and lots more.
In Foundation Year we have been learning about the sacrament of Baptism.
Learning about Weddings - we held a ceremony, followed by a reception. |
We walked up to the local Firestation and were lucky enough to sit inside the engine, have a tour of the station and try out the hose. We had a great time!
Games of balance and agility in PE.
Working together.
All plants are different. Joshua has drawn a spider plant. "We used a magnifying glass to look at a spider. It had eight legs, a head and a body." Investivation into spiders, by Charlotte
