Year 6

Busy designing in Year 6.
Welcome to Year 6. We have a very packed year and plan to enjoy it as much as we can.
We follow the primary framework for literacy and numeracy and these cover a range of topics and skills that we need in order to attempt our SATs in the summer term. We look at a whole host of numeracy, from: fractions to measuring to using calculators to understanding shape and even start to learn some algebra!
We have three main areas that we use within literacy: speaking and listening, writing and reading. We talk a lot and use this in our reading and writing to help us to explain what we mean and how we can get the most out of the topics we are studying. During the year we look at a range of topics, from Chocolate to the Egyptians, to the Olympics and even Macbeth!
Science plays an important part in our school life, we have a lot to fit in and we really enjoy our investigations. Our science topics cover a huge range of areas including: food chains, dissolving, reversible and irreversible reactions, micro-organisms, forces in action and how we see things.
We are really looking forward to our SAT’s and the challenges that we face. We know that we have our residential to PGL at Boreatton House to look forward to and we can’t wait for it!
