Ofsted Inspection

Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in October 2009.

Here are some quotes from the report:

  • Chivenor is a satisfactory school where all staff are working hard to improve provision and raise standards.
  • The school is a friendly and welcoming place, and parents and children are clear about how happy and safe they feel there.
  • Pupils have a desire to learn and they show a real pride in their work.
  • The good leadership of the headteacher, deputy headteacher and senior staff has demonstrated that there is a strong capacity to continue the improvements already made and to raise standards further.
  • The school is a very caring place where pupils are well looked after. The introduction of learning mentors has had a very positive impact on home-school relationships.
  • Pupils have a good number of clubs that a lot of them take part in.

We subsequently had a monitoring inspection in March 2011, which concluded that the school has made good progress in making improvements and satisfactory progress in demonstrating a better capacity for sustained improvement.
