School Event - Litter Walk

March 2010

In March, a local police officer and three environmental officers from Birmingham City Council, along with the children and teachers in Year 5, took part in a litter pick walk around the local estate.

The children had to record all the different items of litter that they came across whilst on their walk. They then needed to identify what the biggest cause of litter pollution was on their estate.

After the walk the children discussed their findings with the environmental officers and talked about what they could do to try and reduce the amount of litter on the streets.

Look at all this rubbish!

Recording all the different types of litter we saw.

The children found so much litter.

Yet more litter!

We were shocked how much rubbish was in this skip.

We used this to help us identify the different sorts of litter we found.
