School Event - Year 4 at Cadbury World

21 March 2011

Chocolate lovers read on! On Monday 21st March both Year 4 classes were lucky enough to visit Cadbury Word as part of our topic work on Chocolate.

We learned so much in just one memorable day, including: how chocolate begins life as cocoa beans; how chocolate is made, produced and wrapped; and about the life of John Cadbury and the history of his family business.

Here is what some of the children wrote about the trip:

What I did on the coach
On the coach I felt really excited because it was going to be my first time at Cadbury World. I couldn’t wait to get there because I love chocolate so much!
When we got there
When we finally got there I felt really excited and really happy because I couldn’t wait to see so much chocolate. It was quite sunny outside and quite hot. Then we needed to go to something called the bear talk.
The Bear talk
Finally we got to the bear talk. Also at the bear talk we learnt where cocoa beans came from and how chocolate was made.

On the Way
It was a long way to Cadbury’s but it was worth the wait. I was excited and nervous but I didn’t let the nerves get the better of me.
In the factory
It was great considering some children said they didn’t like it. The thick, melted chocolate was sensational and divine!

Hi Cadbury World
While the coach was rumbling and my stomach was grumbling Cadbury World was in sight. We got off the coach and we got separated into groups. I was in Mrs Wiffen’s group.
Bear Talking
We walked into a big room with loads of chairs. We sat down on a chair. Meanwhile the lady was nattering about something but when I turned round there was a gorilla and she pushed the button and it played.
Chocolate Essence
I slowly moved into a room filled with facts. Just then the doors shut like a prison. Pictures came to life. A man showed up on a screen who started to natter but is still gets crazier than that!
Goodbye Cadbury’s
We came through a passage that lead to a box where there was chocolate and if you jump it breaks. It was mad! As soon as we had broken half of Cadbury’s we walked into a room which had Cadbury’s planet. It was cool. I wonder how it worked?
