School Event - Chivenor Champs Win Birmingham Indoor Athletics

On the 16th March 2011 Chivenor athletics team attended Nechells Leisure Centre to compete in the Birmingham Indoor Athletics final.

After qualifying through two rounds (Castle Vale Cluster and East Birmingham final) Chivenor faced 10 other primary schools from various parts of Birmingham to become Birmingham Champions.

The Year 5/6 team of 12 boys and 12 girls competed in various track and field events including sprint relays, obstacle relays, 6 lap parlaaf, triple jump, javelin throw, speed bounce, vertical jump and chest push. The team worked together to accumulate enough points to win the tournament and take home the title of ‘Birmingham Indoor Athletics Champions’.

Miss Kelly, Year 6 class teacher who put the team together, said that they were a pleasure to train and support. They worked well as a team and showed great sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Boys = Cole, Louis T, Tyrell, Tyreese, Joshua, Jordan C, Jake, Ben M, Cheyserr-Xiol, Billy, Owen F and Lemar.
