Celebrate with us any special achievements by the school or of our students.

Baskerville School has met the standards and has achieved the Healthy Schools Award.
A school which gains the Birmingham Healthy School Standard will be recognised throughout the country as one which meets the agreed national standards and, has demonstrated its commitment to pupil welfare and well-being.
We are proud of this achievement and being healthy is now entrenched in all aspects of school and residential. Healthy eating is encouraged and we have seen a positive impact of this on behaviour. We are seeing students eating a varied and healthy diet and now only drinking water, fruit juice and milk.
Students cook and serve healthy refreshments through an Enterprise initiative in the summer term. They call themselves 'Dude Love Café'.
Physical well being is promoted and we have expanded the choice of physical activities both within the curriculum and in leisure time. The students have also participated in a many external events organised for a whole range of schools.

Baskerville School has achieved the Schools' Litter Charter!
The Litter Charter is a symbol of recognition for schools that have made a commitment to looking after their school and the local environment through education and environmental initiatives.
All Birmingham schools can be considered for the Litter Charter and there are five requirements:
A representative from Birmingham City Council visited the school in April 2007 and led a whole school assembly on the topic of the Schools' Litter Charter.
The students took part in a litter pick within the school grounds, and showed the representative how we met the five requirements.

A project funded from a grant awarded from the Lottery Fund – 'Awards for All'. We received the amount of £4,761.
An environmental pond was built to provide study opportunities for the students and other community groups. The aim of the project was to increase understanding of the environment and to utilise natural live resources. The project also created a sensory calming setting which continues to be experienced and enjoyed daily by the students.

We are very proud of the eight students who have achieved their Bronze award in 2006/7 academic year.
The students take part in Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme as an option at Key Stage 4 and can also work towards the award with activities that take place within the residential setting.
In order to obtain the award the students need to successfully learn a new skill, take part in a service and participate in physical activities. They must also experience two residential expeditions. This is an exciting programme and the students gain a lot from completing the award. The students who have achieved bronze will be working towards their silver award in 2007/8 and we have other students who are near completing or who are just starting their bronze awards.
